Nosková reaches Australian Open quarterfinals after Svitolina retires
Czech tennis player Linda Nosková has reached the first Grand Slam quarterfinal of her career, after an injured No.19 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine retired from their Round of 16 match at the Australian Open after only three games. The 19-year-old Nosková, who stunned world No.1 Iga Swiatek in the previous round, will next face Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska.
Another Czech in the Australian Open quarterfinal is Barbora Krejčíková, who defeated teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva of Russia on Sunday. The Czech ninth seed will next play against world no.2 Aryna Sabalenka.
