Body of researcher carried away by water surge in mine found

Rescue workers have found the body of a man who died after being carried away by water while doing research at a mine. The man was exploring the historic Jeroným tin mine in the Sokolov area of West Bohemia on Friday afternoon when he was swept away by a surge of water.

A number of fire units, USAR experts and specialised divers took part in the search for the man. The Mine Rescue Service also had to stabilise the part of the mine where the accident occurred. The man’s body was found after water had been pumped out.
