Pubs, cafes and restaurants up their prices, reflecting changes in VAT
Pubs, cafes and restaurants around the country have upped their prices in reaction to the changes in VAT rates on drinks and food. The value added tax on draught beer and soft drinks went from ten to twenty-one percent at the start of 2024 and this was immediately reflected in their prices. In some places, beer has gone up by seven crowns. The price of coffee has also risen significantly. Cafés in the centre of Prague have upped the price of an espresso or cappuccino by ten crowns on average.
