President Pavel condemns anti-Semitism in online video

Czech President Petr Pavel says all expressions of anti-Semitism must be thoroughly condemned and stopped and that crimes should be prosecuted.

In a video posted on social media on Tuesday, the head of state said there had been a rise in threats and attacks against Jews in Europe and elsewhere in recent days.

Mr. Pavel said it was not possible to hide hatred behind claims of free speech or difference of outlook. He said Europe should lead by example in this area, saying it should have learned lessons from history.
