President Pavel: Czechia could play bigger role in Africa

Czechia could play a bigger role in Africa than before, President Petr Pavel said after a meeting with Mozambican President Filip Nyusi on Monday evening. According to Mr. Pavel, strengthening cooperation with African states is in the interest of the whole of Europe, so as to counter the influence of Russia and China in the region.

According to Pavel, Mozambique offers opportunities for Czech companies operating in the defence industry, healthcare, transport infrastructure, processing of agricultural products or renewable energy. The delegation from Mozambican will discuss specific cooperation opportunities with representatives of Czech companies on Tuesday.
