Czech Red Cross launches public collection to aid Slovenia
The Czech branch of the International Red Cross has launched a public collection to help those affected by the devastating floods in Slovenia. According to the Czech Red Cross, there is a shortage of drinking water and sanitary supplies in the affected areas and many people have had to be evacuated.
The floods, which were caused by torrential rains, affected two thirds of the country and are considered the biggest natural disaster in Slovenia’s history. They have caused damage estimated at around 500 million euros and killed at least six people.
