Amendment to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees to 2025

Refugees from Ukraine may be able to extend their temporary protection in Czechia for another year, until the end of March 2025, under an amendment to the law dubbed “Lex Ukraine” that the Ministry of the Interior submitted for comments from other ministries on Monday.

Temporary protection status allows Ukrainian refugees to access public health insurance, education and the labour market in Czechia. The authors of the proposal state that the course of the war so far does not suggest that they will be able to return to their home country in the near future.
