Czechia to have its first ambassador to Kosovo
Bohumil Mazánek, a former ambassador to Lithuania, has been appointed Czechia’s first ambassador in Kosovo, the Foreign Ministry announced in a press release on Tuesday.
The former South Serbian province of Kosovo declared independence in 2008. The then government of Mirek Topolánek recognised its sovereignty the same year and Czechia’s official position has remained unchanged since then. Kosovo has gradually been recognised by more than 100 countries, some of which later reversed their decision.
In total, the Czech government approved 26 diplomats to head Czech embassies abroad. They were all authorised by President Petr Pavel.
