Prague approves naming streets in new district after Albright, other women

Councillors in Prague have approved the naming of most of the streets and green areas in the first part of a new district named Smíchov City after notable women. The main street will be named after the late US secretary of state Madeleine Albright, who was born in the nearby Smíchov area. Parks will be named after the philosopher Hannah Arendt and Alice and Anna Masaryk, the daughter and granddaughter of Czechoslovakia’s founder T.G. Masaryk.

Construction work began on the first section of Smíchov City in 2020 and the whole project should be completed by 2032.
