However, Czech tennis players were not so lucky in the singles. Jiří Lehečka lost 6-4, 6-2 to Daniil Medvedev (Russian but competing under a neutral flag) in the round of 16 before retiring from the match due to an injury, and Petra Kvitová lost 6-0, 6-3 in her round of 16 match against the Tunisian player Ons Jabeur. The only Czech left in the singles is Markéta Vondroušová, who will be competing in the quarter-final against US player Jessica Pegula on Tuesday afternoon. Four doubles matches featuring Czech tennis players are also taking place on Tuesday afternoon.
