Heatwave warning and ban on lighting fires
Meteorologists have warned the public to brace for extreme temperatures in the coming days. Sunday should see daytime highs of 33 to 36 degrees Celsius and temperatures are expected to remain over the 30 degree mark for most of the coming week. People are being advised to increase their intake of liquids and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Older people and children are particularly at risk.
In view of the dry and extremely hot weather there is a ban on lighting fires outdoors and mounted police are patrolling the Bohemian Switzerland National Park which was ravaged by a devastating fire last year.
