Czech government sending emergency aid to Ukraine in wake of dam flooding
Czechia will provide Ukraine with tankers for the distribution of drinking water, life vests and water pumps to help the rescue effort in the wake of the Khakovka dam flooding, Prime Minister Petr Fiala announced following a cabinet session on Wednesday. The Defense Ministry will dispatch the emergency aid immediately and the prime minister said he would ascertain Ukraine’s immediate needs and coordinate further assistance from other ministries. Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský said on Tuesday his ministry would send 10 million crowns in aid to Ukraine to assist the humanitarian effort.
Meanwhile the NGO People in Need has said it will provide 120,000 litres of bottled drinking water, water tanks and 1,000 hygiene kits in the coming days.
