Prague considering buying Czech Post main building for use as offices
Prague City Hall is considering buying the main building of Czech Post on the capital’s Jindřišská street near Wenceslas Square. City Hall Councillor Adam Zábranský told the Czech News Agency that Prague is currently in negotiations with Czech Post and that one of the options being considered for the building’s subsequent use would be as an office space for City Hall employees. However, he added that it isn’t certain yet that the city will purchase the building as it needs to know the conditions for the acquisition first.
Czech Post recently ran into financial difficulties and is planning to close hundreds of its branches across the country, including a third of all offices in Prague. This includes selling the main building of the state-owned company and building a new headquarters in the capital’s Vysočany district.
