Ban on outdoor poultry farming lifted
The ban on outdoor poultry farming, which was imposed by the State Veterinary Administration in mid-December due to the spread of bird flu, was lifted on Friday.
Veterinarians say the situation in Czechia as well as elsewhere in Europe has improved. At the same time, they have advised breeders to prevent contact with wild birds and observe other preventive measures.
The ban on outdoor poultry farming was issued following the largest outbreak of bird flu in the country to date, confirmed at a chicken farm in West Bohemia in December, which resulted in the culling of nearly 750,000 laying hens.
