Fiala government revises its policy program due to war expenditures
The Fiala government has revised its policy program after about 14 months in office. Prime Minister Petr Fiala justified the need for the revision citing major unexpected expenditures in connection with the war in Ukraine. The most important changes were made with regard to commitments concerning finances, energy and education. The prime minister said that since it was only a revision of the original program the government would not seek approval for it in the lower house. The move has been severely criticized by the opposition ANO and Freedom and Direct Democracy parties who say it is a sign of incompetence and chaos.
