Tourist numbers in Czechia still lower than pre-Covid levels
The Czech Republic welcomed 19.5 million tourists last year, an increase of 71 percent compared to 2021, which was still heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this is 2.5 million fewer tourists than visited the country in 2019, the year before the pandemic broke out, according to data published on Thursday by the Czech Statistical Office. There were 50.6 million overnight stays in the country last year, while in 2019, there were 57 million.
According to the analysis, the number of Czech tourists in terms of arrivals and overnight stays has already surpassed 2019 by nine percent, but foreign tourist numbers are still down by about a third.
