Lower house continues debating no-confidence vote in government

The lower house continued debating the vote of no-confidence in the government of Petr Fiala on Wednesday morning. The motion was proposed by the opposition ANO party and debate began in the lower house on Tuesday. Around 50 MPs from the opposition and government are participating in the debate. Given that the ruling coalition has a solid majority in the lower chamber it is almost certain to survive the no-confidence vote.

The reason cited by ANO for the motion was that the ruling coalition had blocked its proposals in the lower house and failed to address the electorate’s problems. Commentators are linking the vote to ANO party leader Andrej Babiš' campaign in the presidential elections as an attempt to win media attention.
