Czech Police arrest Russian gangster wanted in US

Detectives from the National Centre for Combating Organised Crime (NCOZ) found and arrested a Georgian national for whom there is an international arrest warrant issued by the United States. The man, who is described as a high ranking authority within Russia’s criminal underworld, is accused of committing several violent crimes in the US and is currently being held in extradition custody, NCOZ spokesman Jaroslav Ibehej said on Tuesday. Police officers also arrested the man’s Georgian bodyguard, during the raid.

An extradition proceeding will decide on whether the suspect will be handed over to US authorities.
