Former PM Babiš meets with French president Macron

Former PM and presidential candidate Andrej Babiš met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Tuesday to discuss the war in Ukraine and a solution to the energy crisis in Europe.  The meeting, which lasted 40 minutes, took place just three days before the first round of the Czech presidential elections.

Both Mr Babiš's ANO party and Emmanuel Macron's Renaissance party are part of the Renew Europe faction in the European Parliament. The French president’s spokeswoman told the Czech News Agency on Monday that the visit should not be interpreted as  President Macron’s support for Mr Babiš in the elections.
