Thaw arrives in Czechia, mild weather due for Christmas

Following a period of sub-zero temperatures a thaw has arrived in Czechia, with snow now disappearing in low-lying areas and melting in the mountains.

It is due to rain in most of the country on December 24, the day when Czechs celebrate Christmas, with an average high temperature of 11 degrees Celsius expected. Daytime highs should begin to fall again in the middle of next week.
