Czech EU Presidency to hold final ministerial meeting in Brussels
The last ministerial meeting held under the Czech EU Presidency will take place in Brussels on Tuesday. The meeting of EU environment ministers, to be chaired by Czech Deputy Prime Minister Marian Jurečka, will focus on the restoration of natural ecosystems.
Jurečka will symbolically hand over the presidency to Sweden, after Czechia’s six month stint at the helm of the EU during which time it completed negotiations on a number of proposals from the EU climate package.
Among other things, MEPs have agreed on a major restriction on the sale of new cars with conventional combustion engines from 2035 and a reform of the emissions trading market.
