Czechia to receive 15 older Leopard tanks from Germany
The Czech army is due to receive the first of 15 older Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany on Tuesday, to make up for those which Czechia sent to Ukraine to boost the country’s defense capability. According to the Czech Defense Ministry the remaining 14 tanks should arrive in Czechia next year. German assistance in replacing the equipment donated to Ukraine was agreed in early May by Prime Minister Petr Fiala and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The two countries are also negotiating the purchase of up to 50 more state-of-the-art Leopard tanks, which the Czech Republic would acquire in the coming years.
