Talks on new Prague leadership hit the rocks

Talks on a new Prague leadership have once again hit the rocks. Following a meeting with representatives of the Pirate Party, the chief candidate for the post of mayor, Bohuslav Svoboda of the Civic Democrats said he would now seek support for a minority administration in the capital.

The outgoing mayor, Zdeněk Hřib, from the Pirate Party and Praha Sobe, with whom the Pirates formed an alliance, appear to be heading for the opposition benches. The Civic Democrats, Christian Democrats and TOP 09 who formed the coalition Together, won the local elections in September and  have been trying for almost two months to form a city council based on a similar framework to that of the ruling coalition.
