Scientist Petr Pyšek in line for Czech Head prize

Botanist and environmentalist Petr Pyšek is in the frame to receive the national Czech Head prize for major achievements in science, the Czech News Agency reported. The government is due to on Wednesday discuss a recommendation to that effect from the Council for Research, Development and Innovation. The award comes with CZK 1 million.

Mr. Pyšek researches biological invasions on a global scale, their history, dynamics and impacts on biodiversity and the functioning of ecosystems. He is considered one of the founders of modern invasive ecology.
