ČEZ to increase price of heating by 20 percent next year

Energy company ČEZ Teplárenská says it plans to increase the price of heating by an average of 20 percent next year, the Czech News Agency reported on Monday. Most heating plants in the Czech Republic are also planning to increase prices next year and some customers will even see their heating bills double.

The main factors contributing to the price increase are the rising costs of carbon dioxide emission allowances and rising production costs including fuel, materials, and repairs. According to the Heating Association, an organisation promoting the interests of Czech heating companies, the rise in prices will affect almost four million customers in the Czech Republic, which amounts to a little under half the country.
