Javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch named Athlete of Year

Javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch has been named Czech Athlete of the Year for the second year running. The 32-year-old, who took a silver medal at the last world championships and a silver medal at European championships.

Another javelin thrower, Barbora Špotáková, who won the annual poll nine times, came second. Shot putter Tomáš Staněk, who also won a bronze medal at the European championships, finished in the third place.

The annual Athlete of the Year prize is voted on by athletics officials, trainers and journalists.
