Czechia struggles with shortages of vital medicines

The Czech Republic is dealing with the biggest drug shortage in its history, including blood pressure pills, cholesterol pills, and basic antibiotics, Hospodářské noviny reported on Friday. Much of Europe is currently dealing with a similar problem, which the news site says has been caused by several factors, but unlike some other countries, Czechia doesn't stockpile drugs in case of shortages.

The government says it is preparing a strategy to prevent similar situations in the future and that the most essential medicines should arrive within a few weeks.
