Zeman to receive Babiš at Lány residence on Sunday

President Miloš Zeman will receive ex-prime minister and head of the ANO party Andrej Babiš at his residence in Lány on Sunday afternoon, his spokesperson announced on Twitter on Thursday. No further details about the visit were given, including its purpose.

On the following day, Monday, October 31, ANO is expected to officially announce its presidential candidate. Originally, this was supposed to have happened already this week, but the announcement was postponed due to Mr. Babiš having to isolate after contracting coronavirus. Mr. Babiš has not yet ruled out his candidacy, but he has not confirmed it either.

The presidential elections will take place in January and the new president will take office at the beginning of March.  Candidates must submit their application no later than the beginning of November.
