Czech government to discuss screening system for ministers and deputies
The Czech government is due to discuss a proposal under which members of cabinet and their deputies would need to show a clear lustration (screening) certificate before being appointed. This would prove that they did not hold a senior position in the pre-1989 Communist regime.
A draft bill to this effect is being prepared by the Minister of the Interior and is due to be discussed by ministers next week, the Czech News Agency reported.
Similar legislation was in effect following the country’s return to democracy.
