Taiwan and Czechia sign memoranda on cooperation in education, science and culture
Taiwan and Czechia have signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture. A delegation of Czech senators and ministry representatives, led by the chairman of the Senate’s Education Committee, Jiří Drahoš, is in Taiwan for talks aimed at revitalizing ties and tapping new cooperation potential in these fields. According to Taipei Radio, Mr. Drahoš called for the introduction of direct flights between Taipei and Prague, which would help facilitate closer contacts in culture and education and bring more Taiwanese tourists to Czechia. Before the Covid pandemic around 200,000 Taiwanese visited Czechia annually, but their numbers have since dropped significantly.
