Former City Hall councillor, accused of corruption, to be released on bail

The former councillor of Prague City Hall Petr Hlubuček, who is currently facing charges of being involved in corruption within the city’s Public Transit Company, will most probably be released from prison this Tuesday, news site Novinky.cz reports. In order to be released, the defendant had to pay bail, the news site writes. He will however continue to be prosecuted.

Prosecutor Adam Borgula did not offer comment after being contacted by Novinky.cz, nor did Mr Hlubuček’s legal representative.

Czech Radio reported earlier on Tuesday that the accused former councillor has transferred all of the properties he owns in Czechia into the ownership of his partner.

News site Seznam Zprávy reports that the former member of the Prague Public Transit company’s board, Matej Augustín, who also stands accused in the corruption case, was released from prison on Monday.
