Forest fire in Bohemian Switzerland close to being contained
The forest fire in Bohemian Switzerland in the north of Czechia, which has been raging in the national park for thirteen days, is close to being extinguished, the head of the Czech national fire service Vladimír Vlček told the Czech News Agency on Friday.
The officers had hoped to contain the blaze by Friday, however their efforts have been complicated by high temperatures and lack of rain.
The area where the fire continues to burn has been reduced to around 400 hectares, but new outbreaks still occurred during the night.
Overnight, firefighters conducted a survey using drones in the northern part of the territory, regrouping forces and resources closer to the places where outbreaks are occurring.
