New Covid cases down in Czechia for seventh day in row
On Wednesday, 2,669 new cases were recorded in Czechia, slightly fewer than on the same day a week earlier. The seven-day case incidence rate was 145 per 100,000 people, with this indicator falling since last Thursday.
There are 1,176 people in hospitals with the infection, with 32 patients in a serious condition. The number of deaths has recently started to increase, with 86 deaths recorded in the last seven days while in the previous week, there were only 71.
The current wave of the coronavirus epidemic in Czechia began in early June and new cases continued to rise until the middle of last week. According to the State Health Institute, the BA.5 subtype of the omicron variant is currently predominant, accounting for 75 percent of cases.
