Covid cases continue to rise in Czechia

The number of newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in Czechia reached 953 on Saturday, which is around 400 more than on the same day a week ago. There were 706 people hospitalized with Covid, 200 more than last Saturday. Twenty-eight of the patients were in serious condition.

The number of new Covid-19 cases has been steadily increasing since the beginning of June due to the spread of the more contagious Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5. The seven-day incidence figure has risen to 146 per 100,000 people. The highest number of infected is in Prague, where it stands at 234.
