Former deputy mayor of Prague remanded in huge corruption scandal
A Prague court has remanded in custody the former Prague deputy mayor Petr Hlubuček and another suspect, businessman Zakaria Nemrah, in a corruption case linked to the Prague Transport Company. Eleven people have been charged altogether in the case involving bribery, involvement in organized crime and suspicions of illicit drug and psychotropic substance use.
The former deputy mayor of Prague, Petr Hlubuček and Prague businessman Michal Redl, who is also charged, are both reported to have had close links to the deputy chair of the coalition STAN party Petr Gazdik. There have been calls on him to resign and accept political responsibility for the scandal.
