Prague Deputy Mayor one of 11 accused in transport company corruption case

Prague Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubuček and businessman Michal Redl are among the 11 people accused of corruption and mismanagement of the Prague public transport company DPP. Mr. Redl also faces charges of illegal substance abuse. The accused were charged on Wednesday by police officers from the National Centre for Combatting Organised Crime (NCOZ).

Detectives are carrying out investigations at around 40 locations in Prague, including Prague City Hall, the Czech Republic’s largest health insurance company, and the home of Mr. Hlubuček in Lysolajy, where he is also mayor. They have also closed DPP’s offices of the Board of Directors, the CEO, and the heads of the legal department and asset management. Mr. Hlubuček, who is a member of the supervisory board of the Prague transport company, is consulting the situation with a lawyer.
