Supreme Audit Office slams Czech authorities for poor waste disposal

The Supreme Audit Office has criticized the Czech authorities for poor municipal waste disposal in the Czech Republic, saying that even billions of euros in EU subsidies had not brought about an improvement. Landfilling remains the primary disposal method used, although it is the least appropriate. The country has also failed to increase its waste recycling capacity or to build or modernise waste-to-energy facilities. Moreover the amount of waste generated has not declined, the Supreme Audit Office said following an audit into the use of state and EU funds in the years 2018 - 2020.
