Exhibition highlights lives of prisoners forced to mine uranium

A new exhibition at a communist-era labour camp at Ostrov in West Bohemia highlights the lives of prisoners there. Located at what is today known as the “Red Tower of Death” in Ostrov, it includes period photographs, biographical information on selected prisoners and the testimonies of survivors, who were forced to mine uranium in extremely dangerous conditions.

The exhibition was prepared by the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes in Prague in cooperation with the Czech Confederation of Political Prisoners, which now owns the site.
