Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Prague for talks
Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, who is in Prague for talks with Czech officials, is due to meet with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Markéta Pekarova Adamová on Tuesday. Tsikhanouskaya is also due to address an international conference on Truth and Democracy at the Václav Havel Library in Prague.
The opposition leader has been living in exile in Lithuania, where she fled shortly after running in the 2020 presidential election against Alexander Lukashenko, who was contentiously declared the victor. Her husband, blogger Sjarhei Cichanouski, was sentenced to 18 years in prison last year for organizing demonstrations against the Lukashenko regime.
