Blažek to discuss war crimes in Ukraine at ICC in Hague

The Czech minister of justice, Pavel Blažek, says he will discuss details of how to proceed on the matter of war crimes committed in the Ukraine at the International Criminal Court in the Hague in a fortnight’s time.

Mr. Blažek said on Wednesday that there would have to be a decision on what individual states needed to do on the matter and what the ICC would be responsible for.

The justice chief said that the Supreme State Attorney in Prague was currently investigating its first suspected war crimes case in Ukraine.

He also said that war crimes committed as part of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine would undoubtedly be a theme of the Czech presidency of the EU in the second half of this year.
