Bolek Polívka to receive President’s Award at KVIFF
The President's Award of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival due to take place in July will be given to actor, playwright, screenwriter and director Bolek Polívka, the festival’s president Jiří Bartoška told journalists on Tuesday. Polívka will receive the award at the festival’s gala opening ceremony on July 1.
Bolek Polívka who is known as an entertainer to the broad public also excelled in serious roles, receiving the Czech Lion for the role of a parish priest in the film Forgotten Light and for his role in the film We Must Help Each Other. He went from being an exceptional mime to one of the most popular film actors, working with directors such as Věra Chytilova, Jan Hřebejk and Juraj Jakubisko.
