Remains of General František Moravec taken to Czech Republic for reburial
The remains of General František Moravec, Czechoslovakia's wartime intelligence chief, have been brought home for reburial from the United States where he died in exile.
An urn containing the general’s ashes was flown to Časlav Airbase in the Czech Republic on Tuesday morning and, following a commemorative ceremony, interred in the cemetery in his hometown Čáslav, in accordance with his wishes. The ceremony was attended by members of General Moravec’s family as well as representatives of the state.
The repatriation of the general’s remains was planned to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid, which he conceived.
