Czech Radio highlights more unusual circumstances surrounding Balák pardon
The head of the Lány Forestry Administration, Miloš Balák, who was recently sentenced to three years in jail for influencing a public contract and pardoned by the president, only asked for clemency verbally, Czech Radio reported after trying to obtain the request from Prague Castle. The pardon itself, which Czech Radio obtained from the Office of the President under the so-called information law, is only one page long and contains no justification. The date on the pardon is handwritten.
Mr Zeman’s decision to pardon the former head of the Lány Forestry Administration, which is under the presidential office, has sparked outrage among politicians and legal experts.
