Černochová to discuss basing of troops in CR with US counterpart

The Czech minister of defence, Jana Černochová, is set to discuss the possibility of American troops being based in the Czech Republic in talks in the US with her counterpart in Washington, Lloyd Austin. Minister Černochová told the news outlet Deník N that she planned to raise the subject on a visit to the US after Easter. She hinted that the Prague government could follow the lead of Slovakia, where the American army uses two military bases.

Ms. Černochová said the important thing was to secure agreement on such a deal, which could take some time to be accepted by both sides and ratified by both houses of the Czech Parliament.

Labour minister Marian Jurečka said on Sunday that Přerov and Mošnov were two places American soldiers could potentially be located.
