PM Petr Fiala running for reelection as Civic Democratic Party leader

Prime Minister Petr Fiala opened a two-day conference of his Civic Democratic Party on Friday, at which he will defend his position as party leader for the fourth time in succession. In his speech to the assembly, Mr. Fiala said his centre-right coalition government was at the helm during an exceptionally difficult time. "Europe has been hit by a war that ultimately threatens all of us and if the Russian aggression is not stopped in time, we could be next in line" the prime minister said, adding that he was very relieved that the Czech Republic no longer has a government that relies on communists and pro-Russian extremists.
