Communist Party to cease publishing daily paper

The Czech Communist Party is to stop publishing its own newspaper Haló noviny at the end of April, the grouping’s central committee decided at the weekend. A spokesperson for the Communists said that the daily had a circulation of around 6,000.

The left-wing publication, which has been going since 1991, will now become a weekly.

In the last general elections the Communist Party failed to make it into the Czech lower house for the first time since the end of one-party rule.
