77th Prague Spring to put fresh spotlight on contemporary music

This year’s edition of the Prague Spring International Music Festival will include a new section dedicated to the latest in contemporary music, organisers said on Tuesday. Entitled Prague Offspring, it will offer interpretations of works by Czech composers from Vienna’s Klangforum, which will serve as ensemble in residence.

The 77th edition of the Prague Spring will offer 40 concerts between May 12 and June 3. The traditional curtain-raiser My Country by Bedrich Smetana will be performed by the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, conducted by Daniel Barenboim.
