Czech air raid shelters would only accommodate 250,000 people
Air raid shelters in the Czech Republic would only be able to accommodate a quarter of a million people, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said in a question and answer session in the lower house of Parliament on Thursday. The prime minister said there are around six thousand classic air-raid shelters on Czech territory, most of them in Prague. However he added that cellars or the Prague metro would provide adequate protection in the event of an attack. The issue was brought up due to growing concern among the public over Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. The country has 10.7 million inhabitants.
