Válek: Czech doctors must stay home and help Ukrainians here

The minister of health, Vlastimil Válek, says Czech doctors’ task is to help refugees from Ukraine at GPs’ surgeries and hospitals here in the Czech Republic. In a letter to medics on Tuesday Mr. Válek said that he was aware that many would like to set off to help in Ukraine, adding that as a doctor he too was drawn to Ukraine when he saw attacks on civilians and hospitals. However, Czech doctors need to prepare for a wave of Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country, he said.

The minister also highlighted the Ukrainian doctors based in the Czech Republic who had gone home to protect their country and help those injured in the ongoing Russian invasion.
