Thousands left without power after strong winds

Over 25,000 homes were left without power after strong winds battered several parts of the Czech Republic on Friday night. Many of those who woke up without power were in West Bohemia, operators told the Czech News Agency. The gales also led to the reduction of services on some rail routes in that part of the country.

A low-level danger alert was in place for the entire country on Saturday. Prague Zoo was closed.
